I have spent 90% of this book with a goofy grin on my face.

// The writing here is just weird, jumbled, rambling, unfriendly, disjointed, just really really … Not good! Someone said that this is the author’s best writing to date and if that’s the case she might want to pick another profession because, yikes!! Not saying this to be mean at all, this is just a purely unbiassed assessment of what is clearly fact!!

// Soooooooooooooooooo much internal dialogue ... and the writing is rambly, inaccessible, and unfriendly!! Author, what the hell are you talking about?!? Just get on with it!!!

// Blech he’s a smoker ... WHY?!? There is absolutely NOTHING sexy about smoking; it’s a disgusting, stinky, dangerous habit, and it pisses me off when smokers impose that nastiness on others around them!! Smokers are a HUGE and nasty turnoff!! Huge YUCK that this guy smokes!! I don’t get why authors impose such a nasty thing on thei4 characters ... it is NOT redeeming in the slightest!! Stop!!

Eddie is a prickly antisocial gremlin and I love him

Their danger zones. It made the difference between sailing your ship into space with a big, blank map and running right into a surprise asteroid belt, versus knowing where all the hazards in the star system were. Like Ferengis.

People who acted nice all the time were scary fucking black holes of future danger.

It was like Eddie couldn’t relax until he knew what made someone lose their shit. Once he found that out, he could chill. ‘That’s where the land mines are. Cool.’ And he didn’t jump up and down on that stuff. He wasn’t an asshole. He just needed to know people’s weak spots. Their danger zones.

“On” vs “off” Eddie is such a good descriptor. I want to hear more about his childhood/group home experience.

Gray watching Eddie get sucked into the book he bought him! 😍 This is so book nerdy and I love it.

Life (work) has quieted down for at least a couple of days until traveling starts up. But for now I can focus on words.
