Status Updates From Carretera maldita

Can’t say I’m huge on the exact execution of the ending in some ways, but overall much of Part Three continued what the first 2 parts did. The human tragedy that King is so capable of putting to page is honestly unbelievable, and this was definitely one of the more affecting of them for me. I think I may indeed like this more than The Long Walk.

Read all of Part 2 this morning. Genuinely, this thing is way more emotionally impactful than I expected, and very human. The mixed horror and empathy I feel for this man is . . . I don't know, I'm just surprised at how good the balance is with this book. Will finish tomorrow; it might even wind up being my favorite Bachman book, which is the exact opposite of what I expected.

Read all of Part One today. Honestly *way* better than I was expecting based both on reputation and on my own bouncing off within the first couple "chapters" the first time.

Shockingly emotionally resonant and compelling overall. Excited to read Part Two tomorrow!
