It wasn’t ideal to be in love with him, but he could cope. I have friends who work as immigration experts here in Canada, and I know that if you get a work permit (for a certain period), if you lose your job, you're still legally permitted to remain in Canada for the remainder of the time you were allotted on your permit. Huh, yet one more way in which the States and Canada drastically differ. I love Canada :-)!!
