So much for Anchises. The big reveal was telegraphed way too soon...

This engaging urban fantasy reminds me how much I miss Cold War spy stories.

"Head Case" : it's a slooow burn, but there's no denying the inkling of chemistry between Gabe and Tanya, even if they don't know it. Nothing says "I might have feelings" like together time battling a golem in the steam tunnels underneath the Hotel International.

Kind of slow, and lacking the interpersonal relationships that made Serial Box's other urban fantasy, Bookburners, so appealing. But cold war spycraft be like that I suppose.

"Golem, Part 2": Finally, we get Gabe and Jordan's Cairo backstory.

Well it's the 13th podcast ep but we're nowhere close to finishing, so I'm guessing my progress percentages are off. Still a little confused about ice v. fire, and the characters are hardly as compelling as Bookburners, but it's an engrossing cold war spycraft urban fantasy nonetheless.

Characterizations are much weaker than Gladstone's modern urban fantasy Bookburners, but it's still intriguing while the plot finds its feet.

The narrator for the KGB characters, Christine Helen Lakin, is quite good with the Russian accents (I guess).

Cold war + witches war = win!
