Status Updates From Intrusions

What the hell kind of description of a cab driver is this? Really irritated by the author at this point of the novel where the rambling gets too rambly.

In 1980 weed was called grass and electric typewriters were hummingly exciting.

"It had taken him years to convince her that it was better to voice her hurt or anger instead of swallowing it silently. She had learned to express her feelings, but now she sometimes wished she'd never left the safe dignity of silence."

This is going to be DNF. I just cannot be bothered to read any further. It's not really a novel. It's more like reading along as an author writes a novel, which is interesting for about 50 pages and then you just want to read a damn novel.

Interesting in a way but also annoying as hell if you want to read a novel and get lost in the story. As the title promises, there are lots of intrusions of the author speaking directly to the reader and I feel this is already getting old.
