Status Updates From French Poetry

never thought I'd be reading this at midnight in the airport but oh well

I often have this strange and vivid dream about an unknown woman whom I love
and who loves me.never quite the same
nor someone else, she loves,she understands
the pity is, for her alone my heart is obvious,
simple for her alone who brings to life
my dead face running with her tears
Is she dark, Auburn blond? I don't know
her name? it echoes
soft as the name of loved ones gone
and her voice same as the loved ones gone

"The less I see of her, the more I hate:

The more I hate, the less anger I feel.

The greater my esteem, the less its weight:

I wish her near, the more from her I flee.

Love and hatred, pleasure and ennui.

two arrows fall on me in a single rain

strong is the love, then, that seizes me,

When hatred comes and ‘Vengeance!’ cries.

Thus vain desire forever forces me

To hate the one my heart would have me prize."
