With a small-state governor the chosen pick of the Mob to sit in the White House, there are no limits to what will be done to ensure this happens. However, when a man who is contracted to prepare video montage of the candidate can read between the lines, he has to be neutralised. While he's dodging 'hits', the candidate continues his euphoric rise and all but secures the nomination, forcing the GOP to strike back.

Tired of being behind the legal eight ball, the mob decides that it's high time to influence federal politics. The best way to do that is to influence things in the Oval Office. 'Buying' a president seems to be the best plan around, so they turn to a little known governor and surround him with all the money he'll need to win. Working an angle, a down and out reporter will make a documentary of the entire process.

* cough* Just blowing the digital dust off this one, as I need it for my Equinox Book Challenge. It's been sitting there since July 28, 2011 (my GR anniversary) and I thought I ought to get around to it. I always did enjoy Stephen J. Cannell and hope this standalone lives up to his series work. I shall try to make short order of it and see if I cannot share some decent sentiments throughout the journey. *cough*
