Jeremias 30, Daniel 12-13, Proverbs 16:17-20
Reading has been slower due to irl events requiring my attention.
Today we read how Susanna was oppressed by the corrupted elders, how Daniel, inspired by the spirit, interjects on her behalf and tried the men against each other. It's reminiscent of how Solomon tried the two women, how one betrayed herself in her coldness. Both men were caught in a lie by their own tongues

Jeremias 26-27, Daniel 8-9, Proverbs 16:9-12
Jeremias pre-figures Christ in Jeremias 26:15 - "But know ye, and understand, that if you put me to death, you will shed innocent blood against your own selves... For in truth the Lord sent me to you" - See St. Matthew 27:25
Daniel predicts Christ and His death in Daniel 9:24-27

Jeremias 24-25, Daniel 6-7, Proverbs 16:5-8

Today's reading is a spiritual reinforcement to me. I've some specific personal struggles which seem to melt away upon hearing how God kept the mouth of the lions shut upon Daniel being thrown in to them.

Jeremias 23, Daniel 4-5, Proverbs 16:1-4
Daniel here continues the story of Nabuchodonosor and his later decendant from their respective perspectives, how Nabuchodonosor converted in his later age once humbled by God yet how his decendant Baltasar failed to convert even after prophesy from God and his prophet.

Jeremias 22, Daniel 3, Proverbs 15:29-33
"Here St. Jerome takes notice, that from [Daniel 3:24] to verse 91, was not in the Hebrew in his time. But as it was in all the Greek Bibles, it is more than probable that it had been formerly in the Hebrew or rather in the Chaldaic, in which the book of Daniel was written. But this is certain, that it is, and has been of old, received by the Church."

Jeremias 20-21, Daniel 1-2, Proverbs 15:25-28

God's chosen prophet, who speaks to the people on behalf of God, even he is wishing for the day of his birth to be cursed. To live a righteous vocation is to suffer evil, as to be good is to rightly overcome evil. Followers of Christ aren't promised comfort, and the prophet rightly speaks of the vengeance due for evil pre figuring Christ.

The heart is perverse above all things, and unsearchable, who can know it?
