The third story was just brilliant! My heart beat feverishly with the historian. The diary entries were a perfect medium to convey the plot. The atmosphere was creepy and desperate. What a visceral tale.

The second story reads like an ancient gossip magazine. I love it. It also reminds me of The Monk and his need to possess beauty (aka beautiful maidens).
