Status Updates From Mi prima Rachel

Done! It ended the way I knew it would. And I ended up sympathizing with Philip a teeny weeny bit in the end only because his brain has a lot going on. But he’s still an immature idiot. The story being told solely in Philip’s point of view was an excellent choice. But the Chekhov’s guns had neon lights and exclamation points all over them. Not as good as Rebecca, though. 3.5 stars rounded down.

This book should be titled That Fool Philip. He’s been my focus the entire book - his incredible foolishness and unreliable narration - and I don’t even care much about Rachel and what’s going through her head. I’m getting the feeling there’s not going to be a straight answer on her and I’m fine with that because enough has been given and Philip walked into a disaster on his own accord.

“A fool and his money is easily parted.” His birthday has happened so the doom is near. I revisited the first chapter (which is a prologue) and it takes place only a few months after his B-day. So doom happens quickly. And I’ll have zero sympathy for Philip when it happens. Dude almost literally threw everything away and did it with a smile! He deserves what he gets at this point. He’s a world class idiot.

Will Phillip die? Will it be the same thing as he’s writing letters to his godfather about her like how Ambrose did? And then will he die? Or will he outsmart her? Or did she truly never kill Ambrose? Or did she kill Ambrose and she was going to do the same with Phillip but ended up actually falling in love with Phillip for real?

I think she’s using her charm right now to make the house her house, all apart of her plan?

Philip is a BONEHEAD! Whew, thank goodness the godfather and owner of the trust stepped in to correct that foolishness! And he’s mad as all hell about it too! Man, it’s a good thing he can’t legally touch the goods because he doesn’t have the sense he was born with!! I think blackmail is a red herring. I’m going with Rachel looking for a suga daddy and Philip is foolish enough to oblige.

I think she killed Ambrose with a plant!
