The more I read, the more confused I get. It feels like this book should be the second and not first in the series. A lot of the plot relies on the characters backstories which we really don’t understand or learn. It’s one thing to have backstory that provides more nuance but if your backstory is required to understand the main plot….? That’s lame imho

There’s multiple POVs, which is hard to keep up with because the changes aren’t labeled or titled. You can only tell from the writing. However, now the plot of the story is muddied. I’m confused cause it seems like this is the first in a series but no other books have been published in like 8 years.

I’m so confused right now.

Still sitting on the fence with this one. One minute I love it and the next time I pick it up it leaves me feeling like I just say a train wreck and all I can do is sit there muttering "What the hell just happened? I'm so confused?" If it wasn't for my determination to figure this all out...oh, well maybe that's the sign of a good mystery? Or a determined reader...I'm not really sure at this point.

Sjeez. How can I already forget who is who? Forget it. All the different characters in way too short time is making this a very frustrating read...

it feels like this story will take forever. If I had not read the blurb the fact that he was an addict would come out of nowhere..

this has a dnf from one trusted GR friend and a 5 star glowing review from another, so this should be interesting!

I think I've figured out some of the stuff that was missing.....but maybe not.

It's a jumbled reading so far and I'm still not quite sure what the *other* problems are....

I can already tell this one is going to be amazing!

Needs to be tighter. Fewer POV shifts.
