However, I do have to give congratulations on writing a reveal that caught me completely off guard - I guessed early on in book two, so this is nice.

I like this series - it ranges from classic fantasy adventuring to politic intrigue, there’s interesting characters (and I love that the main character here is a side character from the previous books), and lovely worldbuilding that gets further explored in each work. But the author relies on the big reveal of a character (“who’s working for the shadow this time”) and honestly I wouldn’t mind some variety.
