This shit, right here, is what's going to result in me throwing the book across the room and quitting:

The author started losing me with his casual "hey kids, I'm the cool teacher" tone. He won me back by using The Crying of Lot 49 as an example.

No, I wasn't going to fall into the trap of reading 7 different books at the same time this year. But two are ongoing reference books, one's nonfiction, the other is fiction, so it's different things.

Made it through the intro of this one. I already know this stuff, but this is a good refresher to help me tighen up my other reading and take better notes.
