Chapter 19 was — I would like to say, unnecessary. I think you can become friend wit someone without them having to go through THAT.
However I suppose Anne needed an episode of that sort in her life to let go the childish vision of her life ? I can understand the idea behind this storytelling. Still it is quite violent.
