i love danez smith's poetry with my whole heart & i'll never stop. i watched him perform so many of these poems years ago when i was in high school and each word resonates like it did back then.
"say the name
of the first boy
you love
who died
& don't cry.
say it
& love
the air
around your tongue
say it
& watch
the fire come
say it
& watch the son rise."
from poem "Lion king in the hood"
