The hero and heroine of Love on the Prairie are both likable characters. Owen is sure that Abigail cannot survive the harshness of the place that she has moved to, thinking she is going to be marrying her cousin. She still wants to claim the land for herself and her sisters. These two are hardworking and strong characters and as the reader you are hoping that they get "through the storm" that is their existence.
