Loving these stories, Ann Quin is criminally underrated

It’s becoming evident to me that Quin was indeed a precursor to much of this century’s more experimental writing and that she was ahead of the game in so many ways. This book contains as the title implies a number of stories and fragments of her unique style. It’s incredible to think that this stuff dates from 1962 onwards! Maybe Quin was some kind of time traveller?

The intro makes a valid point: without the pioneering women like Ann Quin, perhaps this century wouldn’t have seen the emergence of the most interesting contemporary writers: Eimar McBride, Claire Louise Bennett, Sheila Heti, Deborah Levy, among others.
