Status Updates From The Eighth God

Well... this is getting dark. There's a strange cheesy-ness to this book which really has me bewildered. Paul told me that he wrote "Grimdark-comedy"... but while there are funny sections, I dunno if there's an element of Poe's Law here.

Saethryth... Orcslayer.
Melress...Battle Mage.
Tierra...Orcslayer and ex-Orc lover.
Kelper...Captain of some Guards.
Caw...Raven who flies over all.

I just can't see this one getting to where I want it to be... Where is the real epic moment where you just click into the story? For me, it's just not quite happening :/

So, we have a half-orc who is infiltraiting the elven/human camps in a time of peace.
We have the Orcslayers, a long lost order of mages and people who have sworn vengence on the Orcs.
And we have some other characters, one of which is half-elf half-human on a journey to find out more...

It seems like this is a fun story, but I do feel like it's just lacking that descriptive depth and character growth I really like

Currently a quarter of the way into this. It seems like there is definitely going to be a fun story here, but the editing of this book needs a fair bit of work before it can be called a strong story. I think at the moment it's on a 3*s for me as long as all stays on track. It's pretty fast-paced at least :)
