Status Updates From The Phantom of the Opera

It’s genuinely been months and I cannot finish this book. It’s so freaking boring, it feels like torture. It started out fun and then it just keeps going and it doesn’t need to. Christine is boring. Raoul is actually useless omfg. Like im genuinely confused what changes they made to the musical for people to love it. It’s just so fucking boring oh my god Im not even being dramatic.

Just from reading the introduction, I know some of this is supposed to be set in the actual time period Leroux is writing about. But I'm not sure exactly to what extent this is supposed to be historical fiction. Like, are the managers he's mentioning as well as the the actual characters supposed to be real? Are most of these events based on fact? I could literally resolve this with a Google search, so I'll do that.
