i do think the topics about rights these politician characters go on spiels about are important but they’re also not super relevant to the story at hand so it’s kinda like… personal ranting…

The protagonist is such an unlikeable dumb ass. There has just been a string of ludicrously bad decisions and assholish behavior here and very little actual detective work in this detective book.

Really uncomfortable with the stereotypical way the black rap community was presented here. It felt icky to read. Might bail on this one.

A nice amount of suspense is building, it’s a very solid Private detective book so far, and I appreciate the Canadian setting. (Maybe could have edited down the half chapter that was basically just a glossary of gambling slang, that dragged a bit.)

Canadian political intrigue, a murder thinly disguised as suicide, a missing person, and a wedding being planned all before the end of chapter two. Riveting.

I'm enjoying this so far.

I hope the rest is better than the prologue.

This is shaping up to be a great political potboiler.
