I know I'm going against the flow, but I'm finding this story so melodramatic. In my opinion they could have reached a better understanding as soon as they talked at the inn. Elizabeth's reasons to refuse him seem silly to me.

This is as good as everyone says

Oh this is a tough read. It is full of regret, guilt, opportunities missed, lost hope, failed attempts and angst of the acutest kind. An evil hand started this story and is slowly being revealed. I am aghast at how the avalanche started with one single act or push. We are now years later and at the bottom of that destruction and trying to make life as livable as possible. Oh man, how things turned out.
