the very concept of yona giving sinha a name (and that name being built off of suggestions she got from others in the group) is beautiful symbolism on its own but the name itself?????? moonlight?????? bc he was in the darkness for so long but never lost his light?????? he is gentle and warm despite EVERYTHING??????? mizuho kusanagi i want to kiss your cheeks

hak kneeling to show his devotion to yona as royalty and then yona kneeling right back when he assures her that he'll never forget il?????? their bond is so beautiful and i'm continually impressed with how evenly matched they are despite the bodyguard x princess dynamic. that power dynamic is definitely still there but they have such a great foundation of mutual respect for each other as PEOPLE first

god i LOVE this whole chapter being about the importance of names. it reflects a level of newfound respect and friendship between yun and yona for him to call her by her first name, and although hak also yearns for that closeness, it speaks volumes to the weight of their history together that yona needs him to be the one person in the world who continues to call her by her title instead

this manga's ability to have me sobbing one page and then laughing out loud the next is remarkable

nope i'm not done losing my mind over this ending cause it's the exact definition of bittersweet. he leaves the bells behind and he can't remember ao's face but he remembers his apology at the end. he's officially letting him go while simultaneously vowing to keep him in his heart forever. he doesn't need the bells or the memory of his face. he has the love and now he's ready to move forward into the unknown future

he was really only FOUR YEARS OLD when ao died and he's been completely alone in the 14 years since. of course he doesn't remember his face (and that memory surely starts and ends with him so it's now lost to time forever) but he DOES remember the words he spoke and the feeling of his hand in his. he remembers that he wasn't COMPLETELY alone, at least for a bit. and that's everything

sinha saying that his first memory was of darkness but now realizing that he sees a future for himself IN THE LIGHT by yona's side?????? absolutely gorgeous i love him so dearly

the villagers' fear of the blue dragon's eyes turning people to stone is really making me contemplate the narrative purpose behind this medusa-esque mythos. cause the eyes are the windows to the soul right? and if everyone is terrified to look you in the eyes then that really is the ultimate allegory for loneliness and misunderstanding someone out of herd mentality fear. easier to shun someone than to see them

Ouch, but it's such a good point. Kija has never thought of or wanted anything else. He's driven by his Dragon's oath. Shin Ah's never had the luxury to want anything but kindness and he went where he found it.

But Jae Ha shirks the oath as curse, a tragedy. He desires freedom, not servitude. And for all he knows, that's what awaits him.
