A 3 1/2 star read. It could’ve been 4 but the grammar and editing issues were just too annoying. And I’m frustrated trying to remember the other book this one reminds me of. I don’t want to get to the end of a book feeling frustrated.

This book is so familiar. I know it reminds me of another book but I can’t for the life of me figure out what one. And the MC, who is a detective, is a bloody moron at crime scenes. Crime scene 101 do not walk in evidence. And she does. Twice!

God the grammar sucks! Missing words are really frustrating. Keeps pulling me out of the story.

I’m glad I stuck with this one instead of DNFing after the first chapter. It’s getting good.

It’s taking a bit to get used to the style. It’s really annoying. Short sentences. Every sentence almost its own paragraph. Not well edited and with missing words makes it hard to get into.

The female detective is already so similar to the one in Dawn Girl I read last year that I had to check it wasn’t actually the same series. This is the second time this has happened to me. The rip off of Kim Stone in the Helen Grace series had me doing the same thing.

‘They’d obviously intended last night to be a hot date. Cora was nothing but frigid now, courtesy of an opened window in the corner. No sign of forced entry—the night had just become a little too steamy for the couple.’ WTF really??

God what an awful beginning. Short choppy sentences that don’t make sense. This better improve - I’m only on page 2!
