Status Updates From George and Lizzie

Book club is tommorrow, not sure I will finished in time!

Praise the lord, we’ve now progressed to seeing George and Lizzie’s first date. George is too good for Lizzie and the letter she wrote to herself was so awkward I almost closed the book and walked away.

Lizzie got sleeping pills because she can’t stop pining for Jack. Blah blah blah

As per the deal I made with myself to finish this by the time book club is held, I read 10 pages and I hated every single one. Lizzie continues to learn nothing, blame everyone except herself for her own self hatred and be a bad friend to Marla.

I’ve made a deal with myself to read 8 pages a day in time to finish this godforsaken book for book club and every single one of those 8 pages felt like purgatory. Lizzie is the most boring, self absorbed character I’ve read. And the “voices” she hears critiquing her as though her life is a game of football is the worst example of introspection I’ve ever read.

Don’t like it at all. Lizzie is an annoying main character, the timeline skips back and forth without warning, I just don’t get the appeal. If I wasn’t reading this for book club I’d have given up 30 pages in

100% felt like I was forcing myself to read this book, just so I could mark it finished. I gave up and returned it to the library on its due date, after having it renewed for 3 months total. Slow storyline and I could not tell you the plot, aside from random, bouncing around memories of Lizzie’s life 🤷🏻‍♀️
