Status Updates From Tuff

Tuffy asks the rabbi if God ever spoke with him and the rabbi says he doesn't believe in God. "It's what's so great about being Jewish. You don't have to believe in God per se, just in being Jewish" Hilarious!

Leave it to Beatty to come up with an intellectual black rabbi that responds to Tuffys request for a Big Brother. As usual Tuffys wife Yolanda and his homeboy Fariq throw insults at the rabbi only to have them shot back like a tennis match. Love how Beatty mixes ghetto with intellect

Not only is it entertaining it's over the top and then some. Little wonder Paul was the first American to win the Booker!

It's hard not to think about Richard Pryor when you read these. Pryor was famous for his crazy characters, frequent use of the N word and outrageous situations. Beatty is nearly identical but instead of performing he does it on the written page. While I'm an outlier on this, it's my feeling he's brilliant and hilarious simultaneously

Hilarious as expected. Tuffy and wife Yolanda have the most outrageous chats with the crew who's n****** intellectual goes by Tafiq. Beatty shows both intellectual and comic sides through a this oddball journey in East Harlem.

Quite a departure from the previous book but interesting nonetheless
