The property next time (several hundred acres) is being sold off lot by lot.

Some bordering his property did a survey, it went over his fenceline he's kept up (mowing, etc) for decades. He hired a lawyer, sent a letter to the man. The lawyer did research on the new owners-

If a couple or person is wanting to buy wetlands to build on, it's going to have a lot of extra red tape, potential set backs.

It's investors buying wetlands in prime real estate spots - they have the funding to push through red tape.

imo that's the way to go - lean into conservation if someone is wanting to live or buy wetlands.

Instead of planing projects like in ground swimming pools near wetlands, he's focused on rewilding, planting native plants. He got in touch with the state's conservation programs.

I talked to a local guy, he used to lease land on the wetlands we have to farm, decades ago. He said he made sure to always farm organic in that space - in case the EPA showed up and started asking questions.

It requires going through more red tape.

If that couple has any benefit it's that they're surrounded by protected land - they're not going to be getting neighbors, they have privacy.

That's the downside of building or purchasing a home on wetlands, period. A percentage of people will be turned off because of government restrictions, risk of flooding,

I got the impression the real estate agent in Austin who purchased land in wetlands for development realized this. Certain areas like Austin, Florida - there's such a demand for housing investors will still try to go through with projects.

Depending on the pool it will have chlorine, maybe salt water. It's going to need to drain somewhere -

Someone said on a different forum they purchased a home in the Wetlands (I'm not sure where) the EPA kicked them out to do something (don't remember) paid for their hotel stay before they let them move back in

Built a home near (right next to wetlands) for the scenery - were told by the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority they couldn't build a pool.

I'm not sure where they're located, but imo to think it would be a good idea to build a pool there comes across as poor judgment to me
