My plan was to get a beach read for a low-effort reading experience, and this book seemed to fit the bill. But it's been a great and substantive read so far. Uncomfortable subject matter, but done artistically. In some ways, it reminds me of Andrea Arnold films.

I want to punch this Damon character in the face, too.

It’s a tad ironic that a character in this book is a bit of a novel/writing snob when the actual novel itself isn’t that greatly written. Sometimes it comes across as fanfic or very ‘this is my first attempt.’ But why should I judge, I don’t know how to write books.
