I loved The Empty House, the first novella in this collection. Virginia and her growth through the book are so endearing. And her children are so darling, especially shy, sensitive Cara.

This book has 2 novels in it, & I started with the 2nd one, "The Day of the Storm." The 1st book begins in July, & the 2nd one in January. As we are currently in January, I felt the atmosphere was just right for this story. When I'm not sure what I'd like to read, I know I can pick up a book by Ms. Pilcher & sit with a cup of tea & feel right at home. My 3rd book by this author & I love this one, too.
