This book annoyed me more than any DNF in at least a year. Not every action, thought, and emotion should be explained by multiple paragraphs and revisited over and over. Each scene dragged. Even the sex scene was ridiculously in-depth and turned boring as too many thoughts slowed down the action. The characters were "in their heads" so much that it diminished the enjoyability and wasn't a writing style for me.

Ouch, the incorrect scientific terminology continues... No, CRISPR is not a machine. It's a molecular technology used for gene editing. No automated processes involved, we still have to pipette the stuff by hand.

All was good until the FMC, a CDC virologist, does not correct the MMC (non-science background) about treating the flu with antibiotics. Bad research of the author. The passioned about her work FMC should have mentioned virustatics at this point.... It's the little things that ruin the credibility of a character to the STEM educated reader and people who've seen campains against this specific medical misinformation.
