i love how everything about cis gay people is addressed because there are many things that no one really knows about. it was interesting to read about the camp with cis women and the trans camp and everything.

Ch 3 & 4 are full of potentially triggering things, abuse and violence described in detail, 3 esp. I still find myself often frustrated with the style that this book is written and the sweeping generalizations in it.

Have I mentioned how thankful I am that this book exists? I'm very thankful! Also I wish I had more time to just devour this because I want to know all it has to tell me

Trying to pick this back up again. I still find myself irritated by the sweeping generalizations that erase other people's work, and how disrespectful so much of what she says feels. She did admit that it was her story not the story tho.

This book uses different definitions of things than the ones I know, and language that's not current. For example she calls someone in current times both genderqueer and also cisgender, which could be how the person identifies but that feels unclear. The book also uses the word "trannie", has a moment where she explains why she is using it and acknowledges that its fallen into disfavor.
