I forced myself to finish reading this. It was becoming harder to read in the last chapter especially during our trip to visit my 94 year old grandmother. Facing aging & mortality is a tough subject. A lot of useful ideas & wisdom in this book that will contribute to aging gracefully and living a long healthy life. Finished it on I90 west this evening on our way back to Michigan from Pennsylvania with Larry & Ethan.

I started reading Chapter 8 - Choose Your Own Ending - this morning before heading out for breakfast at Pam’s in Dushore and a hike at World’s End State Park with Larry and Ethan. We will be going to visit Grammy again this afternoon here in Towanda after we get back.

Finished reading Chapter 7 - Building Your Social Reserves - this morning relaxing at the Victorian Charm Inn here in Towanda PA after walking back from our breakfast in downtown Towanda at Havens Main Street Diner with Ethan and Larry. Beautiful day here. Headed to visit Grammy soon. There were some valuable learnings in this chapter. I’m already doing quite a lot of the suggestions with natural intuition.

Finished reading Chapter 6 regarding Physical Reserves here in Towanda Pennsylvania at the Victorian Charm Inn after enjoying visiting Grammy today with Larry and Ethan. We sat out on the large front porch (Ethan went for a run) for a while until the mosquitoes came out, and then enjoyed lounging with our feet up together on the two person recliner in the living room.

Still working my way through the chapter on physical resilience as we work our way across Ohio to see my Grammy in Pennsylvania. So much to think about to stay healthy.

I’m still working my way through Chapter 5 - BUILDING YOUR MENTAL RESERVES Strengthening the Mind/Whole-Body Connection. Woke up early today so had some time to read as I start my day. This book is reinforcing some key concepts I’ve heard of before in new ways. I’m looking forward to my trip to Arthur today with my friend Merijha. It will be my first time visiting Arthur.

I love this book so far. Read Chapter 3 - ACCEPTANCE Discovering Aging On Its Own Terms - tonight as I relax before bed sitting in my living room with Stitch cuddled on my lap. It was a super day here in Decatur; my path ahead is becoming more clear & I’m continuing to savor awakening in my sabbatical. One phrase really stood out in this chapter, “…aging is gradual dying.” Peaceful to consider this way.

I enjoyed reading Chapter 2 - PROACTIVITY Aging with Attitude - this morning while still lying in bed as I ease into my day. It has been a cherished aspect of my sabbatical this summer to have the luxury of nourishing and lingering sleep, and a more forgiving morning routine that allows me the liberty to take it easy if I want to, rather than an early wake up at 530 to be at the office by 7 am, sometimes earlier.

My eyes are getting very sleepy as I wrap up Chapter 1 - Welcome to the Age of Enlightenment. Definitely time to call it a night. Looking forward to digging deeper into this book tomorrow. A key takeaway is that knowledge is not enough…we must have the foresight and wisdom to act on what we know.

I’m excited to start reading this book & finished the foreword & intro. It’s another interesting find from the Decatur Public Library that resonated with me for my sabbatical. it was “relatively” recently published in 2017 & has tremendous focus around being proactive & building resilience, both themes I’ve been trying to weave into my own life for some time. This will help reinforce that with new ideas too
