The uncle insisted on an expensive funeral saying he’d pay the bill and then...oh he couldn’t because he was going bankrupt. Ugh.

So they’re blaming them for her death because, since they gave her false hope before telling her mother, she killed herself? What even? The things gossips let go around!!

That...really surprised me. And what? Her mother wasn’t going to let her have a nice job working for CATHOLICS so this happened instead? I liked her.

Oh his dad’s Irish. Oh and his dad’s catholic. Oh and his mom’s Scottish. Oh and her family’s Protestant. Oh boy. I see now.

I quit my last book and for some reason I haven’t much faith in myself to finish this one but I rather like it so far. It has overwhelming “How Green Was My Valley” vibes for some reason, although this is Scotland not Wales.
