I am still somewhat intimidated by DFW books and tend to procrastinate starting them, but as soon as I do, I remember that I have never read anyone else who can write like he does.

Came for the titular essay (which essay was admittedly a banger), stayed for the footnotes, the unnervingly prescient commentary on visual media/tech/irony, and the passages that made me go “huh, this is just like that bit in Infinite Jest when….”.
Also, a good reminder to finally watch Twin Peaks!
