This is going to sound lame, but - months ago I tried to purchase this book, but when neither THE STRAND nor BARNES AND NOBLE had it, I took it out of the library.
The copy in the library was missing pages (this began about 25% of the way through). So the book was out in hold, but now I have purchased a copy and will resume reading this book tomorrow.
