Don’t care. The humans vs non human “forms” is just not portrayed in an interesting way.
This is a “personhood” and “oppression” narrative and it’s not thinly veiled. It’s nakedly the whole point of the story. The author is just beats us over the head with it. It ruins what could have been an intriguing idea.

Frankenstein mixed with Pinocchio. “Am I a good dog?” “I hope I’m a good dog” “Where’s master?” “I don’t want master to be mad” “I disobeyed master”
This book is garbage. The dog is too stupid for me to care what happens to it. And the way it talks/thinks is grating. This book would be far more interesting if it were written in the third person. Not knowing how dumb the dog is would help.
