Take A Knee is about a white football player coming to consciousness about racism and Black Lives Matter and also a second chance romance between him and a Black woman who has been directly impacted by racist police violence and murder. It felt like him and his process were centered too much.

Mr. Klein Goes to Albany is a second chance romance between two Jewish MCs who are brought together by work in politics, that is actually centered a lot around Rosh Hashanah. I liked it.

Dissent & Desire is a femdom erotica story. Thin characterization, lots of heat, & deals with environmental issues.

Such Great Heights is a compelling story but it doesn't feel whole as a romance & the plot makes me uncomfortable.

DNFd Work of Heart cuz it begins with paragraphs of shit talking about small penises and people with STIs as a way to make fun of a politician. This is not the story for me.

The Fourth Estate reminded me of how much I love Emma Barry's writing. I loved this romance about rival journalists in the days of 45.

Fallacies and Flirtations is a romance between a mayor who seems a lot like Carrie Fisher if she were out as bi & her 20 years younger speech writer. I really enjoyed this one quite a bit.

The President's Protector is a forbidden romance between the President & a trans guy in her secret service detail. It feels short, & I missed the lack of a sex scene & more relationship development. It felt like it ended a bit too soon.

Personal Proposal is a cute f/f romance with a younger bi MC & an older lesbian MC, focused on environmental activism.

I liked Dedication of a Lifetime, a m/m romance that's about making a marrmarriage work while the country is going to hell.

That last story was interesting. I don't tend to like age differences in romance, but this wasn't too obnoxious. The romance was between an older female president and a trans man secret service agent told in memoir style.

This is dragging on. I think I might just get to the Ripper story and the one by AJC and then bow out. I'm really not a friend of short stories. I know this. It isn't a bad thing to just read the ones I'm really interested in, is it?

So, I'm finally getting started on this book. The first story, "Dedication of a Lifetime" by Tamsen Parker, was only meh. I didn't really feel a connection to the characters and felt at least one of the sex scenes was gratuitous. I liked "Personal Proposal" by Ainsley Booth much better. Now on to the third story!

Loved Olivia Dade's story!
