The translation section has been much weaker than the modification section, unfortunately. There's little organization, little cohesiveness, and several opinionated digressions (Mother 3 is Literature unlike those silly Final Fantasies!) that I am not getting much out of

The preamble is a good introduction to what rom hacks are and how you can play them yourself. I'm a little sad all of the Sonic hacks are in a forthcoming part 2 instead of this one though.

Rom hacks are what got me interested in how games worked, and by extension how computers worked as a teen- a big reason I ended up getting into programming. Interested to read a whole book about them ^^
