Status Updates From The Travelling Grave and Ot...

Not really thrilled with these stories. I’m enjoying them - well, most of them - but these are not Horror stories that are going to stick with me. We’ll see if he can give me one that’s a clear favourite. So far, I’ve liked his novels The Go-Between and Facial Justice more than what he brings to the short form. The last few, ‘Feet Forward’ and ‘The Cotillon’, were strong…or I’m just coming around to his style.

Huh? Whaaa….

I was happy to pick this up anyway, when I saw a decently-priced used copy for sale…but it’s always nice to get home and check one of my “100 Best” lists and find out it’s a book on the list. Or sort of, in this case; this is in a vast “Further Recommendations” section that follows a “100 Best Horror Books” list, and I have been going after those bonus books for years.

I get that the writing style is interesting, but these are not scary. Hoping things improve.
