GAWDH, Martin's mom is insufferable! Every word from her mouth is full or prejudice and/or criticism towards his son. Unfortunately the potrayal is still very realistic...

Shocked to find only at 30% this feels a slog.
Reads like a sequel, following on directly without any easing in/catching up. Also feels like the main story is the previous couple which leaves this story floundering about the sidelines - not great especially when the main character constantly feels useless and overlooked.

I feel bad for the MC, Martin, but I just wish someone would suggest some therapy for him. He is completely insecure and self-deprecating due how horrible his mother is to him.

This is what happens when two people with low self-esteem and high over-thinking tendencies crush on each other. Emotionally grueling.

Martin's mom is so awful it is making me stressed out even to read the scenes with her.
Perfect depiction of the personality type that is relentlessly negative and undermining and hateful while managing to never quite say anything that you can argue with or defend against.

Nature had balance but not fairness. Fairness was a human idea, a myth.
