One final thought for now: the two worlds seem to have some specific similarities with our own. Ursula Le Guin is clearly trying to highlight some issues that are present in our own society, such as inequality. At the same time, the first two chapters seem to imply that Anarres and Urras have very stark differences. I am looking forward to learning more about this

Chapter 2: We are beginning to deeply understand Shevek as a character, in addition to the people that he has been surrounded by growing up. Although he spent much of his time surrounded with "friends", he seems to crave isolation over time. I love Ursula Le Guin's writing style that highlights the specific culture differences between the two worlds. She often does this with word usages.

So many interesting thoughts so far!
Chapter 1: From the perspective of Anarres, it seems like Shevek is being cast out as a "traitor", but from the perspective of Urras, they see his visit as a celebration. Maybe this highlights the conflict between Anarres and Urras, particularly from the viewpoint of Anarres.
I wish I had more space here to share thoughts 😂
