Yay because Buzz, nay because she was gone as quickly as she entered the scene.
In hindsight, Forge breaking the rules and climbing through the vents was exactly the right thing to get him his dream job.
"Assessed, optimized, allocated and imprinted" just sounds so inhumane. Then again, the hive is supposedly not governed by people, but systems, whatever that means.

Agreed, Celeste.
The hive may be the fairest caste system in history, but the heavy-handed way cross-level relationships are discouraged, propagandised against, is simply fucked up.
And you know what? I bet you that there are long-time happy cross-level best friends and lovers out there. The Hive just pretends they are impossible because it's obsessed with order, structure and everyone being in their perfect place.

I did not expect to ever like Shanna after reading Telepath.
Raising the spirits of scared people waiting out a power outage is a pretty amazing thing to do though, so for this scene, I appreciate Shanna and her talent in entertaining people when they desperately need it. High up, I guess?

Amber is my hero right now. Taking care of the hive a year before she found out that was her destiny all alone.
How after this display of courage, tenacity, loyalty and resourcefulness she could still believe she could possibly end up in Level 99 is beyond me.

Buzz! ❤❤❤
I hope she does not just reappear yet again in this novella, but in future books too. Amber could really need a therapist sometimes when she has conflicts with Lucas. Also, after the ending of Telepath.
Or she could employ her as a consultant on how to better run her Telepath unit, communicate better and make people more comfortable in speaking their mind openly, even when they have something to critizise.

Now I get why people hate the nosies, since their job is to intimidate criminals into confessing.
How they interrogate suspects on the go is anything but due process.
Blackmailing people into confessing by falsely stating one can read their minds and punishing people for violent fantasies is effed up.
Theirs is truly an alien society compared to real life. One with a whole different set of rights and duties.
