...A bit worried about the research. Hideyoshi was against Christianity, but I had thought that he didn't really enforce until the 1590s when the 26 martyrs happened. For example, Takayama Ukon lost his lands, but I don't think his vassals were offed like this. Then again, I could be wrong.

Woops, editing flub.
The lord being mentioned is a "Fumio Akamatsu". Author lists his name as Akamatsu Fumio in the glossary, saying that he would use Japanese convention of putting the surname in front. The editor/author himself must've forgotten that and wrote it backwards.
Also "Fumio" is a lame name for a samurai.
