It happened almost 80 years ago, but I genuinely feel bad for the Babe's steep decline in his last days and his friends and family who had to witness it. Supposedly his wife refused cancer treatment for herself because she was horrified at what those treatments did to Babe.

I am now convinced that the era of Babe Ruth was a major catalyst for the evolution (and self-initiated tarnishing) of journalism in America.
