So far, this book is dense with references that expert readers will find equally rewarding and worth the time to seep in and process. For those expecting something clinical, it has yet to be.

Carefully written. Scholarly, but certainly understandable to the public. This title was chosen for summer reading for all incoming first years at Princeton. You might say the author is preaching to the choir (me) on this topic, but I really have an interest in what a generation or two (or more) of us will miss if we do not reinforce long form reading as an intellectual mandate.
