Status Updates From Mariée sous la contrainte

Giving me Medieval Shrek plot line vibes.✨ Knight is hired to escort lady to her future husband and the knight falls for the lady but feels like they never will be together because he’s lowliest than to her arranged marriage. Haven’t gotten to the end but I’m expecting a Happily Ever after or a Romeo and Juliet ending. And even though it’s felt like it’s mostly predictable still a nice medieval novel.

'She gasped, the smoldering intensity in his eyes making her stomach quiver. They looked bigger, darker, & even more tempting--as if the ice had melted, leaving twin pools of irresistible cobalt blue water. Eyes she could dive into, could drown in if she wasn't careful.' ....Um. Wow. I like blue eyes too, but seriously. That first sentence is more than enough. The rest is ultraviolet overkill.

Good god, woman! Get a grip. Dude has been remarkably patient with your shrewish flailing, all things considered. I hate heroines that breathe fire at anything the hero says or does; every little thing is SO insulting, SO demeaning -- any excuse for her to scream insults that he's a murderer, a violent spawn of satan, or an unreasonable ass. I feel bad for this guy. He doesn't deserve her shit.

Story seems a bit better than B&B...but there's that same annoying insta-lust. Can we introduce the suppressed boners & ogling each other's eyes AFTER chapter 2, please?? 🙄 Also: I get the feeling this author loves to pair shrill, argumentative heroines with silent, poker-face heroes. Poor guys.

I wasn't terribly impressed by BESIEGED & BETROTHED, but hopefully this one will be better...?
