I have to read this for book club. We meet in two days and I am finding it hard to pick it up. Will attempt today and see if I have enough motivation to start and finish it by then.

This is a lesson on how difficult it is to write well about family history. The central character is the writer's grandmother whom she knew although it must have been as a young child. There is some interest in the trajectory of her life from Liverpool to the NSW Riverina. She is given a credible personality but there are still a lot of suppositions. This from a skilled and experienced biographer.

Enjoyable book about Brenda Niall's grandmother who came to Australia in 1888 when she was 18.
