This is my first time reading the book. I already disliked Mr. Hale from the movie version, but wow, it's so much worse in the book. What a terrible, cowardly, pathetic man. I don't blame Margaret for loving and defending him as his daughter (especially at her age), but we haven't even gotten to Milton and I'm done with Mr. Hale. Oof.
