Before I started reading I had some suspicions as to whether this might not be the stuffy, snobby sort of thing only pretentious people would enjoy, but no, immediately I was captivated by the voice and writing style. It’s genuinely funny and has some serious range already. I can already tell this is a genuine masterwork, and the translation is stellar. Or maybe I am just that sort of person who would enjoy it…
