So far a much more empirical and modern take than Hammond but still delightfully English. I'm not a huge fan of some of Osborne's literary devices in the text itself, but he is very careful in laying out historical and archaeological theories without presenting them as unchallenged facts. Looking forward to progressing from the end of the Archaic and into the Classical.
