Roots through my arms. I felt that. Ow. Ow.

I don't like this woman.

I get the concept - a quirky background character that turns out to have so much more power and importance than anyone realizes. But the narrative rubs it in so terribly and unsubtly that it completely ruins the effect. It actually gives me a pretty strong aversion towards her.

That said, good going Allison. Punch the god. Great scene.

Hell of an introduction for Mottom. And good on Allison for standing up to her. Brave but foolish. The best sort of hero.

Still a little heavy on exposition, but at least Allison's part of the story, the actual Plot, continues to grow increasingly entertaining.

All the devil lore and rules and system is much more elegantly woven into the setting and made to work well.

The previous volume was just setting the scene and dragging the main character around all over the place. She didn't have much say in things. Now she does have say in things.

Not only that, she chooses to say and do the craziest shit.

Who has more agency? The main character that chooses what the plot dictates, or the main character that says fuck all of it and goes off the rails with something stupid?
